Dr Max Wilkinson graduated from Imperial College London with a BSC (Hons) in Biology in 2014 before completing a PhD at the University of Manchester on the use of exhaled volatile organic compounds as biomarkers for human disease in 2019. Following his PhD he continued at the University of Manchester as a post-doctoral Researcher considering the use of breath sampling for stratifying asthma diagnoses.
Max Joined Public Health Scotland during the COVID-19 pandemic where he worked to provide insight into the healthcare outcomes of people incarcerated in Scottish prisons and assess the COVID-19 vaccine rollout in that setting.
Currently, Max holds a post-doctoral Research Fellow position at GCU in the Blood Borne Viruses Research team. He has also held an honorary Healthcare Scientist position at PHS since 2022. Within the BBV team Max works with linked national datasets to, amongst other things, investigate the performance of BBV testing in prisons and drug testing services.
