Research Impact Adviser

Research and Knowledge Exchange Services

Lesom is a Research Impact Adviser within Research and Knowledge Exchange Services at Glasgow Caledonian University. They support academic colleagues to identify, plan, evidence and communicate the impact arising from their research. Their work includes providing specialist advice, delivering workshops and individual consultations, supporting preparations for the Research Excellence Framework, and helping researchers use the PURE Impact Module effectively.

They work with researchers across different academic disciplines to strengthen impact planning, evidence collection and the communication of research outcomes. They also contribute to the development of institutional guidance, processes and resources that support a consistent approach to research impact across the University.

Lesom has a biomedical background and holds an MSc in Forensic Science, specialising in forensic biology. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they worked as a Laboratory Scientist within a COVID-19 Lighthouse Laboratory, supporting large-scale diagnostic testing in a fast-paced and highly regulated environment. This experience developed their understanding of scientific research, quality assurance, multidisciplinary working and the practical application of evidence.

Before joining GCU, they also gained experience in knowledge exchange, research communications and supporting collaboration between researchers and external organisations.
