Dr Larissa Kempenaar obtained her BSc Physiotherapy at the Hoge School Midden Nederland, Utrecht, the Netherlands.  After working clinically as a Physiotherapist in Mental Health, she became a lecturer at Glasgow Caledonian University in 2002. Her PhD thesis, completed in 2006, is titled: Caring for a relative with dementia: Individual difference in coping and distress. Her experience Higher Education includes interprofessional education, research methods, blended learning and collaborative learning. Educational research interests include: partnership working; threshold concepts; epistemology in reflexivity; doctorateness concepts in reflective writing and academic writing development. Larissa also worked as an associate lecturer with Professor Rowena Murray in the School of Education at the University of the West of Scotland between 2013 and 2017 and has been facilitating writing and writing retreats since June 2016. She is currently the Deputy Programme Lead for the MSc and Doctorate in Physiotherapy (DPT) (pre-registration) and is the module leader for the Health Promotion module on the MSc Physiotherapy pre-registration programme and the Professional Development 1 module on the DPT pre-registration programme.
