Dr Katie Thomson

Katie’s clinical background is in Occupational Therapy with over 15 years’ experience working for the NHS.

In 2006, she completed her master's degree in Community Health and in 2009 began teaching on the  BSc Hons Occupational Therapy and MSc Occupational Therapy programmes at Glasgow Caledonian University. In

2010 she completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education before becoming a Fellow and later Senior Fellow (2015) of the Higher Education Academy.

Katie graduated with her PhD in Gaming for Stroke Upper Limb Rehabilitation in 2016 and following this had the opportunity to work on a number of research projects including G-AP (Goal setting and Action Planning Framework), PIONEER (Perceptual disorders after stroke Intervention Evidence Review), CHAMPION (Managing children’s chronic non-cancer pain better) and SUCCESS (Strategies used for constipation in Children).

Katie now works for NESSIE (NIHR Evidence Synthesis Scotland Initiative) as a Research Fellow/Systematic Reviewer working on a wide range of evidence syntheses relevant to health and social care.
