Kate is a researcher in the Department of Social Sciences currently working alongside Prof Nancy Lombard on a three year Horizon Europe Project (Sept 22 – Aug 25) which will develop innovative tools and solutions to combat domestic violence and abuse.

Kate’s research interests include domestic and sexual abuse, policing of domestic abuse and gender and sexuality. Previous research she has been involved in includes the topics of family violence perpetration in racially minoritized communities, sexual violence on campus, police recording of honour-based abuse, forced marriage and female genital mutilation, experiences of children and young people who have been subjected to sexual abuse and improving police responses to coercive control.

Kate completed her PhD in 2018, exploring police responses to same-sex domestic abuse in England and Wales.
