Dr Jon McNeill
Lecturer in Risk Management
Department of Finance, Accounting, and RiskGlasgow School for Business and Society
Dr Jon McNeill is a lecturer in Risk Management, specialising in behavioural risk management and insurance. Based in Glasgow, he holds a PhD in Behavioural Risk Management, with research focused on how heuristics and cognitive biases shape decision-making under conditions of uncertainty.
His work draws on insights from behavioural science and evolutionary psychology to examine how these cognitive processes influence risk perception, organisational behaviour and policy effectiveness.
Jon has served as Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Risk Management and is currently Programme Leader for the MSc Risk Management. He teaches across both programmes on modules including Behavioural Risk Management, Insurance and Managing Risk in the Global Economy.
While based in Glasgow, he has also taught at GCU London, contributing to the delivery of postgraduate education in Risk Management.
In addition to his academic roles at Glasgow Caledonian, he is currently an external examiner for the Walbrook Institute (formerly the London Institute of Banking and Finance), a marker for the Institute of Risk Management and works with Airmic on their Business Excellence Programme, supported by AXA XL, where he supervises academic content.
He welcomes enquiries from prospective PhD students interested in behavioural risk, insurance, or broader topics in risk management, and can be contacted by email.
