Dr Crosbie obtained PhD and BA (Hons) degrees in Marketing, both, from Strathclyde University. Prior to joining Glasgow Caledonian University, in 1995, Dr Crosbie was employed at the Universities of Strathclyde and Paisley (now The University of the West of Scotland). Dr Crosbie also has professional qualifications in International Trade (Diploma, Institute of Export) and in Marketing (Diploma, Marketing, The Chartered Institute of Marketing) and postgraduate qualifications in Electronic Learning (PGCE, The University of Sheffield).
Dr Crosbie has had a number of academic management roles within Glasgow School for Business and Society, most notable including: Programme Leader for the GCU BA (Hons) International Business Degree, and is leading the delivery of the core business school Module ‘The Business Environment’ to over 500 undergraduate students.
In addition Dr Crosbie has taught/is teaching into a range of MBA/MSc master's level and undergraduate final year modules in the areas of international business policy and strategic marketing and into specialist open learning modules such as an online franchising module which was part-funded by the European Social Fund.
He was formerly on the Editorial Review Board of The International Marketing Review.
Dr Crosbie's current research interests include the investigation use of nostalgia appeals in marketing communications and branding and countercyclical consumer behaviour in mature markets; business policy and human resource management implications of cross-border mergers and acquisitions; the adoption of new learning technologies for practitioner-orientated export management and international trade education.
