A graduate of Strathclyde University (BA) and Coventry Polytechnic (MA), Jim Campbell worked briefly for Coventry City council and was then employed as Lecturer in Economics at Humberside Polytechnic before joining Glasgow Caledonian University.

Campbell teaches in the area of European economics and has extensive research interest in the impact of various EU policies. Recently he has been involved with a number of research projects with the Women in Scotland Research Centre (WISE)into occupational segregation and the economics of childcare provision.
