Irene Mains BA(Joint Hons); MSc HRM; FCIPD; MHEA.

Irene is an HRM/HRD generalist Senior Lecturer who is involved in a range of modules at master's level and undergraduate level on a variety of programmes in the HRM suite as well as the undergraduate business programmes.

She has undertaken various Programme Leader and Academic Advisor roles during her time with GCU, both at postgraduate and undergraduate level; and is currently the HRM Pathway Lead for the new business suite of programmes on offer at undergraduate level within the business school.

Prior to entering academia, Irene was an Organisational Development Consultant for over 10 years, working within a variety of sectors and industries, where she carried out applied research and consultancy on a range of strategic, change, organisational behaviour and leadership/management-related issues.

She ran her own consultancy business from 2003 – 2006, specialising mainly in facilitating learning for leadership development.  Irene still undertakes consultancy on behalf of the university, working mainly with public sector organisations delivering development interventions for senior managers.

Irene is currently undertaking her PhD research, looking at leadership in public sectors; and is also undertaking research related to a cross-organisational mentoring initiative for managers, across three3 local partner organisations, which she has led since 2011.
