Dr Gulen Hashmi is a Lecturer in Responsible Business Management in the Department of Management. She is also the Learning & Teaching Lead as well as the Programme Leader for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) franchise program in Nepal. She has extensive industry experience having worked in various supervisory and managerial positions in the hospitality industry over a span of twenty-three years.

Her doctoral specialisation lies in corporate sustainability strategies and organisational transformation for sustainability, with a particular focus on linking corporate and business strategies to societal wellbeing at large.

Gulen has been teaching sustainability and responsible management courses at postgraduate and undergraduate levels since 2019. Her academic publications and books are on the systemic collaborative challenges of our time such as collaboration for sustainability, industry-academia partnerships in socially responsible business education and socially responsible business transformation.

With experience also in sustainability consulting, Gulen considers herself an enthusiast for projects that lie on the nexus between practice and theory. She has led a “Human Rights to Water and Sanitation in the Hospitality Industry” sustainability-training project for an international NGO in Geneva, Switzerland; a mentoring project for a luxury hotel in London; and a training project on sustainable hospitality for an eco-hotel in Gilgit, Pakistan, to name a few.
