Dr Geraint Paul Bevan is Head of Department of Engineering. Geraint is a Senior Lecturer and teaches in the field of Control and Instrumentation at both postgraduate and undergraduate level, joining GCU in 2009.

Geraint is a Chartered Engineer and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He serves on the Professional Registration Committee of the Institute of Measurement and Control, is a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers in Scotland (IES). Geraint has previously served as President of the Royal Philosophical Society of Glasgow.

Geraint worked in the aerospace industry as a Flight Test Engineer on the Eurofighter Typhoon flight test programme, and Senior Flight Systems Engineer on projects including modelling and control of flight systems of the F35 Lightning II and Future Combat Air System, before completing his doctoral thesis on automotive control at the University of Glasgow in 2008. His research interests are in modelling, simulation and control of complex systems, and he has published research on vehicle dynamics, nuclear non-proliferation monitoring and energy systems.
