Gavin joined the Yunus Centre as a PhD student in October 2025. His research explores the alterity and transformative potential of democratic finance, with a particular focus on community bonds and community shares in Scotland. His work is supervised by Professor Neil McHugh, Dr Michaela Mazzei, and Professor Olga Biosca.
He holds a BA in Social Sciences from Glasgow Caledonian University and an MSc in Public Policy from the University of Strathclyde. Gavin also worked for three years in Scottish land reform research and policy advocacy.
His most recent research examined the barriers urban communities face when engaging with and undertaking community land ownership in Scotland.
