Daniel Rafferty

Lecturer in Podiatry

Department of Podiatry and Radiography

Danny’s background is in physics and electronics. Danny has worked with a number of Allied Health Professional and clinical staff for many years developing instrumentation and measurement techniques. In addition to providing technical support in taking measurement Danny also play a role in data reduction and analysis contributing to the dissemination of results in grant reports and publication. He is the manager of the School of Health and Social Care’s Clinical Research Centre based at South Glasgow University Hospital. Danny has also held a commercialisation fellowship from the Royal Society of Edinburgh.

Danny’s current research lies in measuring functional movement including both biomechanical and physiological aspects. My main area of interest is in 3D Motion Analysis including the measurement of kinetics as well as kinematic data. The use of 3D motion analysis should not be restricted to the analysis of gait but in a wide variety of functional task as well as sporting activity. Danny is involved with a wide range of patient groups including patients with neurological impairments and the elderly. Danny is also keen where possible to explore commercialisation opportunities.
