Professor Craig Gaskell

Professor Craig Gaskell joined Glasgow Caledonian University as Provost and Deputy Vice‑Chancellor in May 2026.

He has extensive academic and institutional leadership experience across the UK higher education sector, with a strong track record in transformation, enterprise, partnership development and growth.

Previous roles include Provost (Transformation) at the University of Derby, Pro Vice‑Chancellor (Enterprise and Knowledge Exchange) at Teesside University, and founding Principal and Chief Executive Officer of University Academy 92 (UA92). Professor Gaskell has also held senior academic leadership positions at Coventry University and the University of Hull.

A Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Professor of Higher Education Innovation, a Chartered Engineer and with a BSc and PhD in Computer Science, he is widely recognised for building inclusive, collaborative cultures and driving impactful innovation, access and excellence in education, research and knowledge exchange.
