Basil is a Lecturer in the Department of Nursing and Community Health.
His professional journey started in Nigeria, where he became a Registered General Nurse in 2010 and earned a bachelor's degree in Nursing Science from Nnamdi Azikiwe University in 2011. He also became a Registered Midwife and Public Health Nurse in 2011 and 2012, respectively.
In 2018, Basil obtained a master's degree in Community Health Nursing. Currently, he is in the research phase of a doctorate at the University of Derby. In addition, he completed a postgraduate certificate and a postgraduate diploma in 2023.
Basil has worked in various healthcare services in Nigeria and the UK. He has been a Nursing Officer, a Tutor at the Basic School of Midwifery, and a Senior Clients Relations Officer with a health maintenance organisation in Nigeria. He was also an Examiner for the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and a marker for the West African Health Examination Board (WAHEB).
Basil was also a Lecturer in the Department of Nursing Science at PAMO University of Medical Sciences, Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He served as the Departmental Examination Officer, OSCE Examiner, Academic Adviser, and Focal person representing the department at the NMCN and WAHEB.
In 2021, Basil became a Registered Adult Nurse in the UK and became a Practice Assessor and Practice Supervisor in 2023. He has supported many students in the clinical setting.
Basil's research interests include public and sexual health issues. He has published articles in reputable journals.
