Ayodeji Matuluko is a Clinical Pharmacist and a full-time PhD student in the Safeguarding Health through Infection Prevention (SHIP) research group within the School of Health and Life Sciences. She completed her Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) degree at the University of Lagos, Nigeria in 2012, and went on to complete a MSc in Clinical Pharmacy, International Practice and Policy at University College London (UCL) in 2016.
Ayodeji has over 7 years of experience as a pharmacist in a broad range of areas including, community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, medical communications and public health. She is a member of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and has been actively involved in the Young Pharmacists Group of FIP (FIP YPG) in different subcommittees and as Chairperson of Projects on the 2020 Steering Committee of FIP YPG.
As a result of her experiences as a pharmacist she developed an interest in improving the prescription and use of antimicrobials through the strategy of antimicrobial stewardship, and the wider policy context relating to medicines regulation especially for antimicrobials. She decided to carry out research around antimicrobial stewardship and commenced a PhD at GCU in October 2018.
Ayodeji’s research project is focused on the co-design and evaluation of theory-informed interventions to enhance antimicrobial stewardship in hospitals based in Scotland.
She is supervised by Professor Kay Currie, Dr Jennifer MacDonald and Dr Valerie Ness.
