Asif A Haseeb OBE

Lay Governor

Asif is an audit engagement leader/client senior manager at Audit Scotland. His current portfolio includes a local authority and related charitable/trust funds, a local government pension fund, a health board, a health & social care integration board and four national collection bodies. He is involved in both external financial and performance audits. His previous role was head of internal audit in a Scottish local authority.

Asif qualified as a chartered management accountant in 1989 and obtained an MBA from GCU in 1997 and therefore has a strong connection with the University.

He has more than 25 years public audit, governance & risk management, financial management and board level experience gained through non-executive membership of public bodies and charities. He has served on and chaired several board committees. He has an in-depth understanding of higher and further education, having recently retired as a lay governor at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS). He is currently a Justice of the Peace (lay magistrate).

Asif was granted an OBE in 2017 for services to racial equality, edu‌cation and health in Scotland and Pakistan.
