Allan Thomson

Lecturer in Podiatry

Department of Podiatry and Radiography

Allan has been a lecturer at Glasgow Caledonian University since 2014, working with undergraduate and postgraduate students.  His special interests include the surgical management of foot disorders.  He brings over 15 years of full time NHS podiatry experience to the department.  He has worked in a range of healthcare settings including NHS community podiatry clinics, hospital based diabetic foot clinics and many years within an orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery service.  He continues to hold honorary contracts with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and provides a valuable service for the NHS whilst providing an interesting placement opportunity for our students.

Allan has completed post-graduate studies, including MSc in Theory of Podiatric Surgery, certificates in prescription only medicines (POMs), Independent prescribing, corticosteroid injection therapy and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound.

Allan has been a Fellow of the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow since 2013 and a Fellow of the Higher Education  Academy since 2017

Allan is very passionate about the environment and a keen contributor to our efforts to continually improve our environmental performance, minimise pollution and making safeguarding the environment an integral part of how we operate.
