Research and Knowledge Exchange ServicesDr Alison McIntosh is Director of Research and Knowledge Exchange Services (RKES) at Glasgow Caledonian University, having joined the University in 2025. Alison leads the professional services team supporting research, innovation, knowledge exchange and research culture, and is responsible for advancing the University's research ambitions through strategic partnerships, funding, and collaboration across sectors.
Prior to joining GCU, Alison was Director of the Scottish Universities Life Sciences Alliance (SULSA), where she led national initiatives in research, innovation and skills development, securing major investment and building partnerships across academia, industry and government. Earlier in her career, she established the Edinburgh Super-Resolution Imaging Consortium (ESRIC), a collaborative research infrastructure supporting interdisciplinary science and training. Alison's experience spans research strategy, partnership development, talent development and knowledge exchange, and she currently serves on the Scottish Funding Council's Research and Knowledge Exchange Committee.
