Alan Jack is a Lecturer in the Department of Applied Computer Games. Alan started out in game development at 17, working at DMA Design in Dundee, and was part of the team for the multi-award-winning GTA2. After achieving a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in game development, he went on to design games for Endemol, Walls and CBBC, including work on the BAFTA winning “Reverse The Odds” for Stand Up To Cancer and Channel 4.
Before joining Glasgow Caledonian University, he spent 7 years teaching in the Netherlands, forging a revolutionary and acclaimed community-and-project-based learning game development course, teaching Game Design, Production, Development Pipelines, Ethics and Diversity Awareness. In his last year, he won the Grads in Games HE Educator of the year award, nominated by his students for his work in mentorship and minorities support.
Alan also has ADHD, and likes to advocate for awareness of and support for Neurodiverse students and colleagues.
