Dr Ahmed Aboushady, received his BSc (Hons) degree and MSc in Electrical and control Engineering from the Arab Academy for Science and Technology (Alexandria, Egypt) in 2005 and 2008 respectively. He received his PhD in Electrical and Electronics engineering from the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, UK) in 2013. Dr. Aboushady is a currently a Senior Lecturer in power electronic systems at Glasgow Caledonian University, the Deputy Director of the Smart Technology Research Centre and the MSc programme lead in Electrical Power Engineering. Dr. Aboushady has over 16 years of lecturing and research experience in power electronics and its applications. As principal investigator, he has been awarded over £330k of funding on a number of projects from Scottish Power Energy Networks, Energy Technology Partnership and Net-Zero Technology Centre. He has published over 30 technical papers in refereed journals and conferences, a single-authored book, a book chapter contribution and a PCT patent. To date, he has supervised 2 PhD students to completion and has 4 ongoing PhDs. Dr. Aboushady is a senior member of IEEE, a member of the International Cigre B4.91 working group, the IEC/TC115 JWG11 and IEC/TC 22/SC 22 F/AHG 6 committees and an associate editor of the IEEE Access Journal. His main research interests are in medium and high voltage DC transmission systems, integration of renewable energy systems and wireless power transfer applications in power systems.
