SCONUL
The SCONUL Access scheme allows you to use study spaces and or books and journals at local university libraries at no cost. Membership is for one year and may include borrowing privileges. You're not normally able to use IT facilities (computers and printers) at other university libraries. You may be able to use eduroam WiFi.
Complete the SCONUL online application, select which library you would like to use and then wait for the approval email from GCU London Library with further details. Once your application has been approved you can use any of the libraries listed on the SCONUL Access website, you don’t need to reapply to SCONUL for each library.
Things to remember when selecting a library and planning your visit:
- Check if you need to complete an additional application form via the university’s website or take any additional documentation, such as a photo, before visiting your selected library.
- Remember to take the acceptance email and your GCU London student card on your visit.
- Note that the acceptance email is only valid for a limited period of time.
- Some libraries require several days after registering in person before borrowing privileges are available.
- If you want to borrow specific materials check the catalogue before you select a library to ensure they have what you want. Borrowing privileges may have restrictions and may not include short loan materials.
- Many of these universities have multiple libraries – find the most appropriate one for your subject.
Check the location and hours before you go, and whether the library has any restrictions on SCONUL visitors on that day. Phone the library if you have any questions.
