“Social business is a complement to traditional profit-maximising business. Social business takes into account the multi-dimensional nature of human beings and uses business principles to achieve one or more social goals.” Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Laureate and Chancellor of Glasgow Caledonian University
This programme, the first of its kind in the world, provides students with the knowledge and skills to channel their passion for positive social change. Students will explore the latest thinking and cutting-edge debates on topics such as social entrepreneurship, the social economy, microfinance theory and practice, contemporary issues facing business and society, and management strategy. The multi-disciplinary nature of our approach encourages students to explore the nature of social problems, and potential solutions, from critical and creative perspectives, and so is suitable for people from most disciplinary backgrounds. We attract students from all over the world, which makes for rich and varied discussions on the importance of culture and context. The core modules are all taught by leading research-active scholars within the Yunus Centre for Social Business and Health, drawing upon the pioneering research being conducted there.
Further details on the entrance requirements of the programme, and how to apply, can be found at the programme pages of the GCU website.
