Bobby joined the Yunus Centre as an intern in 2013. He was subsequently employed on the Commonhealth research programme, before starting his PhD in 2016.

Bobby’s research interests focus on the interconnections between community empowerment, land reform, participatory democracy, sustainable development and rural health.

His Wellcome Trust-funded PhD embraced these themes in investigating the role of community landownership in improving rural heath in Scotland. During his studies, Bobby was awarded a Secondment Fellowship with the World Health Organization, undertaking research on the integration of citizen engagement into evidence-informed policy-making in eastern Europe and central Asia.

Bobby’s research has been published in high-impact journals, including Social Science & Medicine. In 2019, he was awarded The Donald J. Brenner Early Career Award for the best paper submitted by an ECR to the annual conference of the International Society for the Scientific Study of Subjectivity (I4S).
