Les is a researcher and fundraiser with specific expertise in support and development for Third Sector Organisations, with nearly 30 years' involvement in EU funding and EU Projects. He was formerly Member of the European Parliament for Merseyside East Constituency, Member of the House of Commons for Nuneaton and Bedworth and Under Secretary of State in the Department of Industry.

Les has been actively involved in Workers' Cooperatives, Community Development Trusts and local community groups and he retains a keen interest in social enterprise policy development and implementation. He is a board member of SENSCOT (the Social Entrepreneurs Network for Scotland).

As a PhD Student at the University, his research project focuses on the origins of Social Enterprise and Third Sector Organisations.
