Benedetta De Pieri

PhD Student
Glasgow Caledonian University
Benedetta started her PhD at the Yunus Centre in October 2015. Her research focuses on social innovation ideas, policies and implementation in Italy and the UK. The study will explore how policies enhancing social innovation are shaped in these two countries and which ideational and contextual factors influence the policy-making processes in each. The research is supervised by prof. Simon Teasdale, prof. Stephen Sinclair and prof. Simone Baglioni. The analysis will inform wider theories of the generation, evolution and development of social innovation and its relationship to the wider welfare context. It will give a contribution in understanding the role of different actors (private and public, profit and non-profit) in driving social change and innovation in existing policy systems.

Prior to joining the Yunus Centre, Benedetta worked as a research assistant at the Bocconi University (Cergas - Centre for Research on Health and Social Care Management) and as a fundraising consultant in Milan, developing fundraising strategies for non-profit organisations involved in the fields of social exclusion, poverty and healthcare.
