Glasgow Caledonian University has once again been named one of the world’s top universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2021.

We have been ranked in the 601-800 banding, maintaining the position we achieved last year.

Our best-performing category was International Outlook, where we have improved our performance for the fourth time since entering the rankings in 2016, to achieve our highest position to date.

There have been positive improvements across a further three categories for the University, with the results also showing a rise for Teaching, Research and Citations.

Principal and Vice-Chancellor Professor Pamela Gillies CBE FRSE said: "We are pleased that our University has maintained its position in the THE World University rankings. Our inclusion in this internationally respected league table is further recognition of the University community’s global outlook and successful international partnerships, which deliver and enhance our teaching and research excellence and access to higher education for all. We will build on this position in the coming years through continued, collective efforts to improve our student experience, our interactive learning offer and the social impact of our research.”

THE World University Rankings is an annual publication of university rankings by Times Higher Education (THE) magazine. It rates universities worldwide on measures including teaching, research, international outlook and income from industry (knowledge transfer).

This year's ranking is the biggest yet, including 1,527 universities from 93 countries.

The ranking follows recent University achievements: major improvements in student satisfaction according to the National Student Survey (NSS) 2020 results, being rated as one of the top 200 young universities in the THE Young University Rankings and our improved position in the THE Social Impact Rankings.
