Glasgow Caledonian University has climbed 21 places in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021, moving from 96th to 75th out of 131 universities in the UK.

The rise is due to improvements in the University's National Student Survey (NSS) scores on teaching quality and student experience, as well as degree completion and graduate prospects.

Many of the University’s subject areas performed very well in the rankings, with a number of subjects now ranked in UK Top 10, including Sociology/Social Science; Hospitality, Leisure, Recreation and Tourism; Food Science; Radiography; Physiotherapy; and Town and Country Planning.

Two subjects are ranked first in Scotland - Hospitality, Leisure, Recreation and Tourism; and Town and Country Planning and Landscape.

Principal and Vice-Chancellor Professor Pamela Gillies CBE FRSE said: "Our focus as the University for the Common Good, is on the impact we have through our education and research, rather than on a position in league tables. Nevertheless this ranking, in addition to our outstanding performance in the Times Higher Education University Global Impact Rankings, reflect our commitment to making a real contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals issued by the United Nations. These assessments, combined with the THE placement of us in the top eight Universities in the UK which are best placed to meet the challenges of the COVID 19 pandemic, are a testament to the vision, dedication and talent of our staff and students."

The results have been published in full, along with profiles of all universities, on the Sunday Times website (requires subscription).
