The Yunus Centre for Social Business and Health is hosting Here to Stay? an exploration of migrant refugees and asylum seekers in the labour market next month in Brussels.

The event is part of the GCU-led H2020 Project SIRIUS – Skills and Integration of Migrants, Refugees and Asylum Seekers in European Labour Markets. Led by the Centre’s Professor Simone Baglioni, Here to Stay? will hear from speakers including Georgia Papathanasiou of Solidarity Now, Miodrag Nedeljković and Alberto Isetta of the Solidar network, Maria Ilies from the European Commission, Corinne Perthuis of the UN Refugee Agency, and Ilcheong Yi of the UN Research Institute for Social Development.

Professor Baglioni said: “The event aims to foster exchange among practitioners and stakeholders to allow them to better appreciate the integration capacities of cities and municipalities and learn from their experiences how we can develop strategies on how best to integrate immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers and encourage their participation in labour markets and society.”

SIRIUS sees GCU coordinate the research of 11 universities and migrant-support networks in nine countries. It is hoped the project will help shape international policy on supporting access to quality work opportunities and working conditions.

Register to attend.
