Lesley Thomson QC is the former Solicitor General for Scotland. She graduated in law from Glasgow University in 1979 and worked as a Solicitor in industry before joining the prosecution service in 1985 . During her time as a Procurator Fiscal she worked in many locations across Scotland and prior to being appointed Solicitor General in 2011 was the Area Procurator Fiscal for Glasgow.
Her other former roles include Commissioner of the Northern Lighthouse Board and member of the BBC audience council . Lesley is currently a non executive Director of the Scottish Rugby Union (the first woman to be appointed to their Board ). As a prosecutor she specialised in financial and organised crime and is the author of a textbook on confiscating criminal proceeds (1999) and a review of victim care in the justice sector (2016 ).
She was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws by Glasgow University in 2016.
