The Common Good Podcast showcases the work of our academics and support staff and how it benefits communities across Scotland, the UK and overseas.

Published every Monday, the podcast allows our staff to talk in-depth about their work, their role within the University and their careers at GCU and beyond.

Highlights from 2020 have included Dr Christopher Hand, a lecturer in cyberpsychology, discussing the effects the lockdown has had on our mental health and wellbeing.

Douglas Little, the Head of Estates, joined the podcast to talk about how he and his team prepared the GCU campus to reopen safely.

Dr Ben McConville, Head of Department for Media and Journalism, discussed the changing face of the industry over the last 20 years and how GCU is educating the next generation of journalists.

And Professor Claudia Estcourt brought the year to a close by outlining how her research can digitally revolutionise the way sexually-transmitted infections are treated by the NHS.

In 2020 we also started to develop a community of social media producers, so that we can share best practice, offer peer-to-peer support, and share insights from across the campus and beyond. This is in tandem with a major GCU website redevelopment project, which will help us better engage with students and all of our stakeholders.
