As Scotland’s top modern university by research power, we respond to real-world challenges by devising and carrying out cutting-edge research that shapes society, influences government policy and makes a far-reaching difference to people’s lives.

Our unique focus is on addressing the Sustainable Development Goals – issued by the United Nations in 2015 to “end poverty, ensure prosperity for all and protect the planet” by 2030.

Our researchers address the Goals via three societal challenges - Inclusive Societies, Healthy Lives and Sustainable Environments - reflecting the strengths of all of our campuses, our Schools and Research Centres.

In addition, we are ensuring we enrich our research environment as a sector leader in the numbers of our female professors. Forty percent of our professors are women, compared to just 25 per cent nationally.
