Shoppers at one of Glasgow’s busiest retail centres were given free legal advice at a pop-up law clinic.
GCU Law Clinic, an award-winning student-run initiative which provides free and confidential legal advice to people who don’t qualify for legal aid and can’t afford professional advice, was based at Good in the Buchanan Galleries for 10 weeks. Good showcases the work of community organisations across the west of Scotland.
The clinic’s Louise Thomson said: “We were delighted to take the clinic off campus and expand our work in the community.”
The law clinic provides legal advice and can draft legal letters, represent clients in court and negotiate on behalf of clients in contractual disputes.
While the clinic’s students specialise in housing, employment, and contract law, they also run an outreach team working with schools to educate children on their rights and on how the law impacts their lives.
