South Africa’s voiceless communities can now tell their own stories with the support of our Common Good First project.
In October 2018, the first digital lab was launched in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, in partnership with Nelson Mandela University.
Ultimately three other South African universities will host digital labs both on campus and in the community. These will work with local social impact initiatives to share their stories and help them connect with each other and with higher education institutions around the world so that they can tackle social challenges together via mobile and online platforms.
For the second year running, the Scottish Government has also contributed to Common Good First and, by the time the platform launches in Autumn 2019, a range of Scottish projects will be featured so that they, too, can connect with their peers in Africa.
Common Good First is funded by the EU’s Erasmus+ programme.
