Award-winning Scottish photographer Harry Benson CBE received an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters.
Harry, originally from Glasgow, has documented some of the most historic moments and people of the modern world. The photojournalist, who began his career at the Hamilton Advertiser before heading to Fleet Street, marched with Dr Martin Luther King Jr during the Civil rights Movement and was standing by Robert Kennedy’s side when he was assassinated. In 1964, he photographed a young breakthrough band called the Beatles, capturing the band having a pillow-fight. The pictures were to become some of the most iconic images of the band’s early years.
Harry is the only photographer who has pictured the last 12 US Presidents - from President Dwight D. Eisenhower to President Donald J. Trump.
