Of our 4600 graduates in 2016/17, 38% came from disadvantaged backgrounds and nearly half – 47% – were the first in their family to achieve a degree. Figures show 97.2% are in work or are in further study six months after graduation, with 70% securing graduate-level jobs.
In Glasgow, pupils attending the Advanced Higher Hub, which reaches out to 28 partner schools across the city and offers classes on campus, achieved an outstanding pass rate of 92%.
This bridging programme gives pupils from Glasgow schools the opportunity to study Advanced Highers on GCU's city-centre campus, providing greater access to subjects that are not always available in school.
The widening-access initiative also received backing from the ScottishPower Foundation to boost pupil participation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Pupils studying STEM subjects at the Hub are to benefit from a £50,000 investment to support enhanced delivery of Advanced Higher Biology and Chemistry.
