"...modern and upbeat..."

Why did you choose your programme at Glasgow Caledonian?

I have always wanted to do nursing and the course offered here stood out from the others. The fact that GCU seemed so modern and upbeat made it my number one choice and I have never regretted it!

What are you enjoying most about your programme?

There are so many things to choose from. I love the different modules incorporated throughout the course, but I think the most enjoyable element is when we go out on placement with qualified nurses. It makes everything come together for me. The CSL labs on campus are also fantastic for practicing clinical skills and they really help you build your confidence before going out on placement.

Do you belong to any university clubs or societies?

I have been a student representative for the past two years and it has been a great experience.

What is your best memory so far?

I think my best memory so far is of my first day of my very first placement. It was surreal to be able to go into the health centre wearing my new uniform and introduce myself as a student nurse from GCU.

What advice do you have for people considering applying to the university?

Go for it! It is the best decision I have ever made and I have never looked back. It is an amazing university with brilliant lecturers and a relaxed atmosphere.

What do you think about Glasgow?

I love Glasgow, I think it is such a friendly city with great people and so many different things to do. I was born here and I’m not sure I would ever leave.

What do you plan to do after you graduate?

I hope to work as a staff nurse in a surgical ward when I graduate. At some point in my career, I would like to become a lecturer in nursing as I would like to inspire other students in the way the lecturers have inspired me.
