"...exceeded my expectations..."

How has your career progressed since graduation?

During my final year of studies I was successful in gaining a Graduate Quantity Surveyor position with Davis Langdon. I am currently working towards completion of my APC to become a Chartered Quantity Surveyor.

Why did you choose your programme at Glasgow Caledonian?

I visited my local careers office and, after reading the prospectus, I made an appointment with the Course Co-ordinator to have a chat. I found the advice and information I was given invaluable. I had missed the closing date for applications for that year and was therefore advised to apply to an FE College to study a related HND which, after one year, allowed me direct entry to year two of Glasgow Caledonian’s BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying.

Your best memory from university?

Graduation day - my friends and family could come together to celebrate in the recognition and award for my hard work in achieving a 1st class honours.

What did you enjoy most about your programme?

I enjoyed the combination of professional, technical and Quantity Surveying specific skills training with the addition of more generic surveying skills which will offer me the option to move into other roles in my professional career.

What advice do you have for people considering applying to Glasgow Caledonian?

Go for it! My university experience far exceeded my expectations as it was more than learning a chosen profession. The experience offered me a personal challenge, a change in career direction, increased confidence and continues to offer me new professional and personal goals. It has also encouraged me to continue life-long training and learning.
