What is a virtual open day?

It’s a virtual interactive event where you can experience Glasgow Caledonian University, find out about studying here all from the comfort of your own home.

What should I expect?

You will be able to collect information regarding your course of interest, download and view information and pre-recorded videos, attend live talks and presentations, live chat to our academic and support staff, and ask any questions to our student ambassadors.

Will there be any live talks?

Yes, we will be having live presentations. These include applying to university and student life. A full schedule will be available before the event and on the day. 

Are all programmes and departments represented?

Yes, we have all our different courses represented during the day. You will be able to live chat to our academic staff and ask them any questions regarding your course of interest.

We will also have all our support services available to chat with, including, Funding, Careers, Disability, Admissions, Accommodation, VISA advice, College Connect and Graduate Apprenticeships. 

Will you be able to see me?

We won’t be able to see you, but you will be able to contact us, ask us any questions you may have and interact with us through our designated chatrooms.

Will parents and supporters be able to attend?

Yes, when you register you will receive a link to our virtual open day. Parents can sit with you to go through the event, or if they wish, they can register themselves and if they have any questions, we have a dedicated parent and carers area where they can view information and ask questions.

Can I go on a campus tour?

Yes, we have live virtual campus tours throughout the day, where our student ambassadors will take you through our interactive campus map, we will show you around and answer all your questions regarding the university. Look out for the times of these tours on the campus tour page of our virtual open day.

How should I make the most of my virtual open day experience?

  • Register in advance and prepare as you would for a regular open day, you will receive emails and more information from us before the day.
  • Attend key presentations.
  • Chat to our academics and support staff, using the ‘chat to us’ box.
  • Have a look at brochures, leaflets and presentations we have prepared for you on each of the pages.
  • Find out what it’s like to be a student in Glasgow by chatting with our student ambassadors.
  • Prepare some questions you want to ask, this could be entry requirements, writing your personal statement, what are the employment opportunities for this course? What have previous graduates gone on to do?

Can I access the content after the Open Day?

Yes, you will be able to watch our videos and presentations and go through our content until a week after the Open Day.

Booking for the virtual event

Do I have to book to attend the virtual open day?

Yes, you need to register in advance by completing the registration form on our website we will then send you the link and details on how to access our virtual event. 

Will I receive confirmation of my booking?

Once you have registered you will receive a confirmation email for your booking. If you don’t receive this, check your spam or junk folder, if you still haven't received anything then contact us on

Do I need to check in on the day?

Yes, before the open day you will receive an email with a link to log in, there will be instrcutions on how to check in for the event.

As we are using unibuddy as our live chat function you will need to create your student profile when you first choose one of the chat rooms. 

Will I receive any other confirmation before the day?

Yes, you will receive more information from us one day before the open day including the link to log into our platform. We will also send you a reminder on the day of the event. Please ensure you check any spam or junk folder in case the email goes there. Any problems then contact our team at

Which browser should I use to have a better experience?

We recommend that you use Google Chrome for a better user experience. If you are having difficulties or you're struggling to access some areas, please ensure that your browser is up to date.
