Summary of Content

This module will require students to understand and demonstrate a practical knowledge of digital video / film production techniques and the association of digital motion graphics media production. Application of creative technique will cover elective areas such as short film production, documentary production, 3D animation composition, title sequence generation and abstract motion graphics ef fects

Syllabus

Digital video/ audio production and editing . Motion graphics generation. Typography for screen . Colour correction and manipulation. Editing styles.. Documentary filmmaking, short film styles. Compositions techniques for animated media. Media publishing formats

Learning Outcomes

:On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:To critically explore the technology employed within digital video and motion graphics production.To demonstrate through design and synthesis a competency in the generation of effective digital media.To apply aesthetic and critical evaluation to the production process.To evaluate and employ visual communication techniques and understand the role of editing.To critically evaluate the use of audio media within presentations.

Teaching / Learning Strategy

Formal lectures delivered by academic and guest lecturers. Laboratory based exercises. evaluation of personal work and peer group evaluation on a regular basis. Directed learning strategies where appropriate. Independent learning methodologies will be employed. Group and individual learning.
