Summary of Content

Interior Design Project This module is a directed interior design project with an open-ended brief to produce a resolved design proposal whilst taking into consideration the design concept, research and analysis of the context, cultural awareness and detailing of a particular element within the design solution. The development of design issues is addressed through the concept with rigorous research and exploration employing 2D & 3D sketch development techniques. The final presentation should convey the design detailing of the proposal. The design solution should be presented to industry standard and within a limited time frame.

Syllabus

The design is appraised from inception to completion by applying the principles and strategies of the design process through the -360b7 Application of a research strategy. -360b7 Evaluation of research material. -360b7 Production of a programme of work. -360b7 Development and justification of a design concept based on research. -360b7 Production of a visual explanation of the design solution. -360b7 Identification of key issues that impact on design. -360b7 Development of a personal design philosophy.

Teaching / Learning Strategy

Learning and teaching strategies will be developed and implemented, appropriate to students' needs, to enable all students to participate fully in the module. The directed design brief is delivered in an explanatory interactive lecture with illustrated referencing. Design work will be studio based and self-driven with individual monitoring and direction from staff. The Cognitive Apprentice module will be used. Self directed research with personal supervision by a member of staff.
