Summary of Content

Interpretation and application of the Building Standards in Scotland.


The Interpretation and application of Building Standards legislation in Scotland with specific reference to sustainability, energy, water, fire and disability.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of the module, the students should be able to: 1.Demonstrate the ability to interpret and apply Building Standards in the development and assessment of building design proposals 2.Demonstrate an understanding of performance and of prescriptive approaches to the design and appraisal of building design proposals

Teaching / Learning Strategy

Learning and teaching strategies will be developed and implemented, appropriate to student needs, to enable all students to participate fully in the module. Lectures provide the basis theoretical concepts, which will be complemented by tutorials and student presentations. Students will have access to computer software, the University and Department facilities and product information
