Summary of Content

Work experience within an environment appropriate to the students' programme to develop the students' social and interpersonal skills, comparative understanding of work procedures, the ability to question concepts and to relate the theoretical and technological aspects of the programme with the managerial, technical or professional practice aspects of the construction, property and environmental sectors of the built and natural environment.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:Acquire applicatory skills and develop personal and social skills, thereby increasing self-awareness of ability, aptitude and character. Teaching / Learning Strategy

Introductory lectures/tutorials on the format of the placement, employers, expectations, interview procedures, behaviour, means of assessment, tutor visits and professional institution requirements (where appropriate) within Trimester B of previous session supported by a Professional Placement Learning module handbook supported by a programme specific guide for students on each programme and for potential employers. Site visits and site interviews of student and employer's representative by individual mentors Production of set assignments and records of achievement for PDP (Professional Development (PD) within SEBE) (see below)
