Summary of Content

The module will familiarise students with the concepts of public engagement and science communication. It will show them examples as to how someone can effectively engage with the public, why there is a need to do so and teach them skills to create their own public engagement and science communication activity .

On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:1. Prepare a public engagement activity and deliver it to an audience using appropriate media2. Work as an individual and within a group context3. Prepare and present orally a piece of work to a group

Teaching / Learning Strategy

This module will be showcasing various activities regarding public engagement and science communication - public talks, podcasts, workshops, videos etc. Personal experiences from the module team will be used and organizations such as SmartStem, PrimaryEngineer, Stem ambassadors will be shown. The students will produce their own public engagement/science communication activity .
