Summary of Content

This module will formally commence and strongly focus on the theoretical underpinning to help meet the profession's stated intent that all pre-registration undergraduate programmes should firmly embed image interpretation and clinical reporting at a level that enables the students to provide a preliminary clinical evaluation for common pathologies across a range of modalities.

Syllabus

The topic areas to be covered in the module are image interpretation of radiographic examinations of: Appendicular Skeleton Axial Skeleton Thoracic and Visceral Cavity Brain Mechanism of injury Definition and audit of accuracy, sensitivity and specificity

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module students should be able to:The module should support student radiographers' image interpretation learning and skills development so that they can:1. Interpret the results of diagnostic imaging examinations, identifying accurately both normal and abnormal appearances.2. Construct high quality descriptive comments using appropriate terminology in preparation for communicating these findings to practitioners and referring clinicians for future practice.3. Describe what is meant by accuracy, sensitivity and specificity in the context of practitioner audit of performance for preliminary clinical evaluation of skeletal trauma images
