Summary of Content

In this module the student will produce an extensive review and critical appraisal of current research and/or clinical findings relating to a particular topic or topics relevant to the programme.

Syllabus

Paper and on-line literature searching. The interpretation and evaluation of scientific literature and data. Report writing.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the module students should be able to develop:knowledge and understanding of the particular subject area assigned;their writing skills in preparing a report;bibliographical and library skills;their oral communication skills through frequent contact with their project/dissertation supervisor.These will be further developed during oral assessment of the submitted report, when the student will discuss the report within the broader context of the chosen field of study.

Teaching / Learning Strategy

This module will consist of independent study punctuated by frequen meetings with the supervisor, during which the progress of the project/dissertation will be discussed.
