This module provides a student with good understanding of Omani history and civilization, people of Oman their culture and heritage.

Syllabus

Syllabus of this module covers: Early oasis and settlement in Oman Foundation of Islam, its establishment and growth in Oman Early imamates&European invention AL Ya'aruba and Al bu Said Dynasty Omani Empire (Muscat, Oman, Zanzibar, Mumbasa, Jhawader) HM Sultan Quaboos Bin Said: the new and modern Oman People of Oman, their culture and heritage

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the student should be able to:1. Illustrate early oasis, settlement and evolution of Oman (AM1, AM2).2. Understand the establishment and growth of the Islamic civilization (AM1, AM2).3. Demonstrate global and regional influences on Omani evolution (AM1).4. Review the history and progress of Oman under various dynasties (AM2).5. Analyse the culture and heritage of Oman (AM5, AM8).

Teaching / Learning Strategy

The main teaching method will be based on Class room lectures, seminars, presentations and guest lectures will be used. The students will be expected to perform directed reading and self-learning tasks on evolution of Oman.
