Summary of Content

A consolidation of the learner's understanding of the language. Improvement of communication skills in the language. Introduction to themes of current interest in the countries where the language is spoken and appropriate vocabulary of these themes.

Syllabus

A consolidation and development of the learner's understanding of the language. Improvement of the learner's abilities in communication skills in and understanding of the foreign language. Introduction to themes of contemporary interest in the countries in question and familiarisation with vocabulary relevant to these themes.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this Module the student should be able to:- complete brief written assignments in the language with a sufficiently high level of grammatical and lexical accuracy to convey essential information about a range of general and specific topics;- understand the language over this range of topics when spoken at near normal speed;- discuss this range of topics with reasonable fluency;

Teaching / Learning Strategy

Teaching is theme based and classroom activities, which are student-centred, are a mixture of individual, pair and group work. Teaching is a mixture of classroom, workshop and laboratory sessions. Practical classes are conducted in the target language.
