Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module the student should be able to:-1. Demonstrate an understanding of Scots construction law;2. Demonstrate an understanding of contract administration based on standard forms of contract;3. Exhibit strategic, logical, rational and resourceful thinking in the approach to problem-solving activities;4. Apply theoretical learning to practical and discipline-oriented tasks;5. Demonstrate effective use of knowledge and techniques in the discipline area;6. Develop critical thinking and problem-solving techniques;7. Develop independent working skills;8. Develop information retrieval skills.

Teaching / Learning Strategy

The essential purpose of this module is to provide the student with the time and space to develop an understanding of the context and principles of construction contracts. Theoretical concepts and principles are taught by lectures, augmented by seminars to provide models on which students can build. Students will be expected to undertake significant private study. Coursework will be an individual essay based upon a scenario problem. Lectures and seminar materials will be available on GCU Learn.
