Entry requirements 

These are minimum general requirements only. Please refer to the relevant programme pages for essential subject requirements and grade ranges. Advanced entry is only possible where qualification aligns with the course.


  • WAEC -Generally we accept a minimum of 5 Bs for Level 1 entry*
  • A-Levels, Cambridge and IB qualifications are accepted
  • Ordinary National Diploma (OND)/Advanced Diploma can be considered for Level 2 entry
  • Higher National Diploma (HND) for Level 3 entry
  • Equivalent study from a Bachelor's degree programme can be considered for Level 2 or 3 entry
  • Other qualifications may be considered

*There are specific subject requirements for the WAEC for programmes in each school, please contact us directly for further information.


  • Bachelor's degree at 2:2 Honours or above
  • Non-standard applicants with relevant work experience may be considered

English language requirements

To study at the University you must also provide evidence of your English language ability. We accept the West African Education Certificate (WAEC) at C / 6 to programmes that require an IELTS score of 6 with no element below 5.5 and IELTS 6.5 with no element below 6.

Further details of Accepted English language qualifications are available for students requiring to evidence their English language ability. Students who wish to join a programme with a higher English language requirement must provide a SELT result/certificate as evidence of English.

Alumni ambassadors

GCU has alumni ambassadors around the world who kindly volunteer to provide current or prospective students with practical advice on what to expect when they arrive at GCU and how to make the most of their time at university.  

Furthermore, the ambassadors are a point of contact for GCU alumni based overseas and can offer useful tips on settling into a new country or setting up an event or networking opportunity.
